The early part of 2010 was a difficult time for all of Spain with cold winds and torrential rain. Our little group stopped going to the Ronda mercadillo for various reasons and we were asked by the Ayuntamento if we wanted to continue. Everybody said yes. However, the real enigma is the total lack of any local Spanish artists at the mercadillo. In the past few weeks we have had improved weather and steadily improving sales
I won a prize for the Carnival poster for Olvera which gave me my 15 minutes of fame, plus a cash prize. As a direct result I was invited to have a one off exhibition here in Olvera in a local bar.
The really exciting event of this year will be in Grazelema in September when all of us have been invited to show our work together in the information centre with "Colors of Andalucia" as the theme. This is the first time that all of us will be showing our work as Artistandalucia and I hope it goes well.
We may have another artist joining our group if Christine Ellingham joins our website.
Here in Olvera, one of our Spanish artists is trying to form an art club to encourage some of the Spanish painters to come out of the shadows. Alfredo, who already is a leading man in the theatre in Olvera, is recruiting amongst Overenos to see how many he can muster. This could be a good year for Artistandalucia.
